UKAS stands for ‘United Kingdom Accreditation Service’. It is the only national body that can legally accredit calibration laboratories in the UK. A company that has UKAS accreditation can legally guarantee that their calibration service follows the BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard. BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is the internationally recognised standard for the competence of ‘testing and calibration’ in laboratories.
This means that a UKAS accredited laboratory, like ours, can ensure that instrumentation is calibrated to very exacting national standards. After calibrating your pressure equipment we provide a UKAS accredited certificate. This means you can be confident – and prove – that your equipment is operating at its best, and that accuracy is being maintained.
Do I need UKAS calibration?
For many situation where you simply need to know that your pressure measuring equipment is accurate then standard traceable calibration is fine. UKAS Calibration is a higher standard so becomes applicable in situations such as:
- where safety is an important factor
- in precision industries that require proof that services are done to the highest standards
- when exporting internationally – as many companies and authorities require it
- when legal liabilities need to be considered
